Serenity Lodge Requirements.

Requirements: Serenity Lodge.

 
Clients must be self-referred and follow the admissions process.

Admission process; initially phone, information is then passed to the clinical admissions officer, the clinical team will decide whether the client is suitable for admission. A formal assessment with the clinical manager or an external psychiatrist may be required. There may be a waiting list. Prior to entry documents including a client contract must be signed including relevant Centrelink documentation to allow Serenity Lodge to act as a nominee for the client.
 
Serenity Lodge is capable of providing services to some individuals with co-occurring AOD and mental health related issues, but has greater capacity to provide services to individuals with AOD issues.
 
Available to Women & Men aged 18 & over who have acknowledged that they have a drug and/or alcohol problem & who have a willingness to change.

Service Description:
 
Serenity Lodge is a 43 bed residential drug and alcohol treatment centre for those who acknowledge that they have substance abuse problem. Serenity Lodge offers a 12 week open ended program. Treatment is in the form of a Therapeutic Community. A Therapeutic Community is like being in a big family, where each member helps the other through giving guidance, support and practicing “principles of right living”. These are a set of guidelines to help the residents to have a healthy personal and pro-social lifestyle. A therapeutic community recognises that recovery isn’t just about staying clean it’s about making a complete lifestyle and identity change. Serenity Lodge provides a safe and nurturing environment for residents to not only challenge themselves but to learn and develop the skills needed to live right through the experience of “right living” with other community members.
 
Services Offered:
 
Serenity Lodge offers a range of services and programs/ classes including;
Reclaiming self, social skills, personal growth, communication, anger management, self-esteem, CBT, relapse prevention and boundaries. Music, art, choir, meditation and a morning beach walk are also available. One to one and group counselling.

Residents also take part in work therapy which includes looking after the vegetable garden, the grounds, the buildings and running the kitchen.

After care residential service; clients participating successfully in the program who achieve a good prognosis for long term recovery may be offered an extended stay for up to 6 months in a post graduate role.

Serenity Lodge is a residential, standalone, 43 bed, non-government registered. charitable organization which is established to provide assistance in addressing one of Australia's most pressing health & social problems: the misuse of drugs & alcohol in the community & workplace.

   Serenity Lodge was: Founded in 1977 by Mr. Ken Ashton at premises in Parkin Street, Rockingham. Western Australia. Serenity Lodge was incorporated on 21st November 1978 & Over 3 decades the Lodge has assisted a wide cross section of the community (more than 3000 since 1990) with regard to their dependency related problems & also in the maintenance of their ongoing well-being!
 
Serenity Lodge operates its program based on the Therapeutic Community (T/C) model. Which is a residential treatment facility in which the community itself, through self-help & mutual support, is the principal means for promoting personal change!

   In a therapeutic community there is a great focus on social, psychological & behavioral dimensions of substance use, with great use of the community to heal individuals emotionally & support the development of behaviors, attitudes & values of healthy living!
